Serie A’s form strikers |
Francesco Totti had a stellar season in Serie A. His Roma record reads: Played 35, Goals 25, Assists 10, Shots 126 and includes a Coppa Italia final thrashing of Serie A champions, Inter Milan. He won the European Golden Boot, one point ahead of Brazilian Alfonso Alves, playing in Holland.
But Totti is far from the exception; 14 strikers recorded a sub-200 minute Strike Rate in Serie A – double the number that achieved the same feat in the Premiership. They came from clubs at the top, bottom and mid-table and included top stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and relative unknowns such as Manchester City’s £8m signing Rolando Bianchi.
The Match of the Day Football Yearbook has a unique format to compare strikers across Europe so you can run the rule of transfer targets and make an assessment of how they would do in your team.
